This report is designed to take two minutes or less to read. When you come across something with immediate interest, we will show you where to go to get more information. If this does not appear properly, you can see a version on the web. And, now…

2003 Trends

Dallas and NComm are driven by broad market trends, but are prioritized by near term user needs. Last winter we told you of the shifts in service provider priorities reflected in the focus of equipment providers. Click here to read our update of what we see as we continue a cautious recovery.

Events and Milestones

NComm development focused on two primary areas over the last 6 months. These support and build on the Trunk Management Software (TMS) offerings that now comprise world-wide coverage for copper- and fiber-based Wide Area Network source code.

Development focused on making the new TMS Release 6 even more bullet-proof and efficient in terms of MIP and memory consumption. We also added features suggested by our user base including...

NComm also took a step upwards in the protocol stack. Over the last couple of years, a number of TMS users asked us to consider offering Primary Rate ISDN software that could integrate seamlessly with T1 and E1 TMS, have the ease of implementation, high quality and the support that NComm is known for. Well, we did it. We now have our own PRI stack for National ISDN-2, user side. If you are interested, give us a call and we can discuss your needs.

NComm is now a member of IBM's PartnerWorld for Developers. NComm is committed to providing the finest WAN software solutions available. But, the solution you are looking for is more than software. Our expanding relationship with IBM will provide more options for your total solution than ever before.

Changes in the T1.231 Standard! The standards involved with wide area networks are key to our business and the success of your equipment. In February, we told you that NComm Founder and President Bill Matern was asked to chair a T1M1 ad hoc committee for the 5 year revision of T1.231. That effort is just about over. Learn what changes are in store for us by reading NComm's T1.231 Primer 2003

What comes next?

Dallas/Maxim's upcoming telecom offerings include devices that accommodate the increasing need for conserving board space while increasing functionality. Some new T1/E1/J1 parts include an octal framer and single chip transceiver with UTOPIA II interface for ATM applications. New T3/E3 parts include multichannel framers and line interface units. More about these can be found here.

NComm's next products will include accommodating additional technologies to make your WAN interface development fast, cost effective and of the highest possible quality. Look for direct support for additional popular Real Time Operating Systems. We are also planning Ring APS models for SONET and SDH. We will be happy to talk about your specific needs. Call us!

NComm, Inc.

NComm continues to offer an expanding set of Wide Area Network telecom source code (TMS), and custom consulting services, that completely address all of the overhead functions needed to place and maintain a WAN interface in the network. Included in this are Configuration, Alarms, Maintenance/Performance Monitoring and CAS signaling. We do this for any framer device, RTOS and processor you decide to design with. We now offer full support for T1, E1, T3, E3 and SONET / SDH. Support for SONET and SDH includes standard compliant Linear Automatic Protection Switching. Primary Rate ISDN is also available.

TMS users experience very fast implementation times. Once debugged hardware is available, typical integration time is few days or a few hours. There is no faster way to produce a standard compliant, fully functioning WAN interface. More information can be found at www.ncomm.com
